पूर्वं तमिळुराज्यं द्विधा विभक्तम् आसीत् । तयोः राज्ययोः राज्ञोः किल्लबलवन-मलयमानयोः मध्ये कदाचित् वैमनस्यम् उत्पन्नं, युद्धं च प्रवृत्तम् । युद्धे मलयमानः पराजयं प्राप्य अरण्यं प्रति अधावत् । तस्य त्रीन् पुत्रान् भटाः धृतवन्तः । किल्लबलवनः निर्दोषबालान् गजस्य पादतले पातयित्वा मारणीयमिति निश्चितवान् । बालानां दयनीयावस्थां दृष्ट्वा जनाः मौनेन स्थितवन्तः । किन्तु महाकविः कोवूरकिलारः न केवलं विरोधं अकरोत्, अपि च किल्लबलवनः शिबेः वंशोत्पन्नः इति तम् अस्मारयत् । तस्य वचनं श्रुत्वा राजा लज्जितः अभवत् । बालेभ्यः अभयं दत्त्वा योग्यम् आश्रयम् उपकल्पितवान् ।

Earlier, the Tamil kingdom was divided into two parts. A conflict arose between its two rulers, Killi Valavan and Malayaman, leading to war. In battle, Malayaman was defeated and fled to the forest, while his three sons were captured by soldiers. Killi Valavan decided to execute the innocent children by placing them under an elephant’s feet. Seeing their pitiful state, the people remained silent. However, the great poet Kovur Kilar not only protested but also reminded Killi Valavan of his lineage from the noble Shibi dynasty. Hearing this, the king felt ashamed and, instead of killing the children, granted them protection and proper shelter.

सम्भाषणसन्देशः इति संस्कृतमासिकपत्रिका (https://sambhashanasandesha.in) । एतस्यां पत्रिकायां प्रकाशिताः लेखाः, कथाः, बालकथाः, वार्ताः इत्यादिकं सर्वम् अपि सरलसंस्कृतेन एव प्रकाश्यते । तत्रत्याः “बालमोदिनी”नामिकाः बालकथाः अत्र प्रसार्यन्ते । अतः अस्याः शृङ्खलायाः नाम अपि “बालमोदिनी” एव । लघु गात्रं, सरला भाषा च कथानां विशेषः । प्रत्येकं कथा काञ्चित् नीतिं बोधयति । बालकथाः आबालवृद्धं सर्वेषां प्रियाः । संस्कृतेन ताः श्रोतुम् उपलब्धाः भवन्तु इति एषः प्रयत्नः श्रोतृभ्यः अवश्यं रोचेत इति विश्वासः । संस्कृतक्षेत्रे संस्कृतेन पॉड्कास्ट् क्रियमाणाः एताः प्रप्रथमाः कथाः इति सगौरवम् उद्घोष्यते ।
