Speaker 2: You are listening to Scripture for your inner outcasts. Today is Wednesday, October 28th, 2026, the feast of Saint Simon and Jude. Today we're joined by Doctor Peter Malinowski, who's a clinical psychologist and the co-founder of Souls and Hearts. Speaker 1: I really like our readings today. I think they are so relevant for you exiles in the gospel. For today's passage, Luke six, verses 12 to 16, Jesus went up to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God. When day came, he called his disciples to himself, and from them he chose 12 whom he also named apostles. Simon, whom he called Peter, his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon, who was called a zealot, and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor. What what really impressed me about this gospel is that every single one was called by name, was called by name, and. It can be so powerful. In prayer with our exiles. The first time they have a sense that God recognizes them. God the Father, the Holy Spirit could be. Jesus recognizes the part by name, by the parts name. I think it's really important that we get to that level of intimacy. And it's not that these parts are going to have a separate relationship with God separate from the rest of your person. I really think it's important that these relationships be mediated through the innermost self, that the innermost self be present, but that an exile coming to understand that God sees, hears, knows and understands him or her that's so powerful. Speaker 1: Calls them by name that they are included and not just sort of added on. Well, I guess if I'm gonna, you know, have Sarah here, I guess that's all parts of Sarah, including I guess that part has to come along. No, no no no, no, it's not like that. Actively seeking out, actively calling all of you. All your parts. No part left out, no part left behind. It's how serious this is called by name. No longer strangers and sojourners. Now members of the household of God, members of God's family. Members of the mystical body of Christ. Members of the church. All of us. Every single part of us. No part left out, no part left behind. I say that a lot. It's really important to hear it over and over again. And so when you hear or when you read in Luke six the enumeration of the 12 apostles, each one called by name, I think at a micro level, when God calls us, that call extends to every single part of us. And I experience it as God calling my parts by name. So powerful. Speaker 2: You can get written out reflections by Doctor Peter every other week straight to your inbox. Click the link below.
