Sabbath School From Home

We spend this episode with the female prophets of the New Testament — Anna in the temple, the daughters of Philip, and others — and find a picture of prophecy that looks quite different from the confrontational Old Testament model. Anna’s story is told in three verses: she prayed, fasted, turned up at the right moment, and couldn’t stop talking about what she’d seen. But the episode keeps circling a broader question: what counts as a prophetic message? The congregation who fed a family in crisis for three months said something that couldn’t have been said any other way. God has many things he wants to say — and apparently, many ways of saying them.

What is Sabbath School From Home?

Sabbath School is perhaps the most communal and participatory element of a regular Seventh-day Adventist church event (after foot-washing), but social distancing has us all isolated at home. This is a weekly Sabbath School styled conversation on Biblical themes and passages. Join in the conversation by writing comments/questions to sabbathschoolfromhome@gmail.com .
