Cafecito With Us

What school should you go to? How do you decide what to major in? This isn't always an easy choice, especially when you're not well informed and have no one to guide you. Once in school, we first-gens have striking experiences that we can't always shake off. In this episode we share our experiences in attending undergrad/graduate school and selecting our colleges and majors.

What is Cafecito With Us?

Sarah Bonilla, Public Health expert, and Diana Candelejo, Economist & Visual Artist, share their experiences growing up as first generation, daughters of Ecuadorian immigrants, in the pursuit of their goals and interests.

Am I qualified to do this? How am I supposed to do this without a playbook? How does this affect mi familia? Does anyone else care about nuestra comunidad like we do? Whether you’re an immigrant, daughter of immigrants, or “the first” in your family to do anything as a Latina, this podcast is for you.

Cafecito With Us is an interactive, conversation-style, podcast between two friends, colleagues, and experts in their own fields, who open up on their experiences growing up in the United States, breaking into their career, pursuing education, and building their dream lifestyle. They share their highs and lows and their tips as they break generational trauma, economic and social status, and navigate the “American dream” while upholding their Ecuadorian roots and values.

Co-hosts Sarah and Diana will push you to be brave and keep moving towards your dreams despite not having a roadmap in the family.
