New Life Church - Downtown Little Rock

In prayer we are actually joining in with God’s redemptive work as we petition him to right the wrongs of the world through passionate persistent pleas for justice. Just like with the persistence of the widow here in Luke and and Moses in Numbers - God is telling us that our persistence can move the heart of God and bring justice in our difficult situations. This week is a reminder that we’re called to come to God with passion, persistence, and faith in the power of a good Father.

“Then the Lord said, ‘Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man[a] returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?’”
Luke 18:4-8 (NLT)

“The feel of a praying life is cautious optimism—caution because of the Fall, optimism because of redemption. Cautious optimism allows Jesus to boldly send his disciples into an evil world.”
Paul E. Miller | A Praying Life
