Between disorderly crews, a baby born in the ships hold and a wind storm that nearly destroys the ship, Samuel quickly learns that the Transport Service is just as trying as the Packet Service.

Originally meant to be a log book, Kelly began writing detailed accounts of his adventures in the Leeward Islands, Spain, Great Britain and America along with the events that transpired aboard the boats in between these stops.
