We Shannon: in Shun: might Shannon: there Shun: can Shannon: shawn Shun: work that out. We might can work it out But Shannon: All right. Shun: This week for now we are back to our regular schedule program So we have a good comeback Shannon: Yes, we are. Shun: episode for you guys tonight and it is titled children for checks I told you we're about to get off into but Shannon: Mm-hmm. Shun: yes, and I said, ooh We're about to get off into this thing We're going to discuss the trend of women who are having babies for financial gain And although we see it every day, it's still a sad situation. Women are literally Shannon: Yeah. Shun: scouting men as milltakers. You know, it's bad enough when you do it to gain a desired status for yourself. But it's also your business because you're grown. Shannon, we've did a few episodes Shannon: Right. Shun: on why people shouldn't live that way. Right. But Shannon: Yeah. Shun: in the end to each his own and we realize it's your life, you know, but our focus tonight is to ask women to think differently when it comes to having children, just to. Um to secure a certain lifestyle now We know everyone wants a financial stable man who can spoil them and you know be a dynamite dad to their kids I mean who wants to ride the struggle bus? Shannon: Right, Shun: Everyone Shannon: right. Shun: that needs and deserve, you know a provider protector. I rode the struggle bus for years. It's not a good look. Trust me So please understand Shannon: Mm-hmm. Ha, ha, Shun: That's Shannon: ha. Shun: definitely not what we're asking of you, you know Shannon: Yeah. Shun: That's what you know That's just why we get on here every week in hopes to lead you to make better choices, you know and Learn from our stories And Shannon: Right. Shun: when done right family is like the most beautiful thing You know and even doing everything right shannon in the beginning doesn't negate difficulties, right? Hardships Shannon: Oh right, Shun: of trouble Shannon: hell yeah, Shun: it still may Shannon: yeah. Shun: come but when you've committed to that to love in each other You know under that umbrella you take those vows and faith. It will always work itself out Shannon: Yeah, yeah. And for women out there who, you know, they're like, oh, I don't care what you girls are saying because my life is great because I have this child with this man that's, you know, showering us with all of this. Our lifestyle is great. I don't wanna give up this lifestyle. So it's not about the child. It's about your lifestyle. Shun: It's still the lifestyle. Shannon: We probably, yeah, we probably won't reach those folks. You know, those girls Shun: And that's Shannon: are hardcore. Shun: okay. Shannon: Yeah, Shun: They Shannon: we Shun: are. Shannon: want to tell the ones that, yeah, recognize those people. Shun: Are listening we Shannon: Yeah. Shun: want to tell the ones who are considering you're like, hey, you know I can't make it with this job or this Shannon: Yeah. Shun: penny any job, you know If I have a kid by the choosing to have children for money is always a recipe for heartache and confusion Shannon: Yeah. Shun: You know children shouldn't be conceived as pawns, you know a commas and fellas this topic is geared for the women This is not for you, but we don't get to you out next week. Trust it. We always give you guys follow up But in listening Shannon: Right. Shun: to this episode, please understand if you are a successful man If you have those six-figure jobs, you know contracts street money inheritance, however, you get it You need to be mindful as well that it's women that prey on pockets. Just like shannon said It's no matter what we say here tonight. It's still going to be women with that mindset So you guys need Shannon: Yeah, Shun: to be mindful, you know Shannon: right, Shun: When you're dealing Shannon: right. Shun: with that Shannon: Yeah, Shun: I'm sure shanna Shannon: and then... Shun: you remember that move. I'm sorry Shannon: No, go ahead. Shun: I was Shannon: Which Shun: gonna ask Shannon: movie? Shun: if you remember Shannon: I Shun: that Shannon: know Shun: movie Shannon: you always come with the good movies. Ha Shun: You Shannon: ha Shun: know, I got to come Shannon: ha. Shun: with the movies baby. You remember the movie lottery ticket? Um, it was little bow wow Shannon: Oh yeah, Shun: ice cube Yeah The Shannon: mm-hmm. Shun: writer to buy and I think played the grandmother and remember the real pretty girl from the neighborhood Her name was Nikki. I believe y'all know I'm gonna mess up a name too, but I think her name was Nikki I think I got that right Shannon: I don't Shun: not Shannon: remember Shun: one of y'all Shannon: her name. Shun: One of y'all emailed me and um, you know correct me, but I think her name was Nikki. Anyways, um bow wow just everybody just All the guys loved it, right? But she just looked down on him and the common guys and everyday, you know his friends But once the word was out remember that he had 1 million she came straight Shannon: Yep, Shun: for him and he fell Shannon: of Shun: for Shannon: course, Shun: it Shannon: of Shun: Until Shannon: course. Shun: he realized and he asked her hey remember they were talking about using protection like we don't need protection He's like wait a minute. Is this about the money and I believe she says something along the lines of everybody getting pregnant by a baller But me I want my turn to those are the kind of women these this episode is geared for Change Shannon: Yeah. Shun: your minds if it's not too late and even Shannon: Right. Shun: if you're in it Even if you already did it still changed or change your mind to refocus on the child because that's always the most important thing so Children are Shannon: Yeah, Shun: gifts Shannon: yeah. And like, like you said, Sean, you know, we don't want to struggle. We're not deaf. Shun: No. Shannon: We're definitely not looking for someone that's going to take us down. Like, you know, my grandparents would say you can do bad by yourself. Shun: Absolutely. Shannon: However, however, ladies, look at a guy, you know, if he's hardworking, he's loyal, he's faithful, he's, you know, all these things. He just might not be where you think he should be financially. You grow together. You build Shun: I was about Shannon: together. Shun: to say meet each other halfway, then Shannon: Meet Shun: you Shannon: each Shun: get Shannon: other Shun: a job Shannon: halfway and grow. Shun: and meet each other halfway Mm-hmm Shannon: But and grow. Shun: and grow Shannon: Just say hey. Or even if you both come in strong, you both six figure salaries or whatever, you still need to build and grow and go up from there. Don't just settle for mediocrity. I tell. My husband all the time, because I've said on the show, we grew up differently, have different backgrounds. So my mother and the way I grew up in South Dakota and all that, and even when I got down here, her voice is always in my head. We grew up with a mindset of succeeding. My Shun: Mm-hmm. Shannon: husband grew up with a mindset of surviving. So we look at things differently. Shun: right. Shannon: And I'm trying to get him, well, I think he's there now, after all this time, to start thinking about success Shun: succeeding. Shannon: versus survival. I'm like, we're not thinking about how to make our, you know, mortgage payment. We're thinking about how we build businesses. Let's do that, Shun: Absolutely, Shannon: you know? Shun: absolutely. Shannon: So, Shun: I get it. Shannon: yeah, so ladies, find someone you can build with, you can grow with, say, hey, we're about to become the next power couple. We're not there Shun: That's right. Shannon: yet. But we can get there, you know, Shun: But Shannon: do Shun: don't Shannon: it together. Shun: use a child. Yeah, but don't use a child to insert yourself into that situation. Shannon: That's Shun: I Shannon: right, Shun: could say it's no Shannon: that's Shun: good Shannon: right. Shun: Children are gifts, Shannon: It's no Shun: you know, Shannon: good. Shun: they're precious. Yeah, they're precious cargo They're people and they deserve Shannon: Yeah. Shun: love and honor and all the things, you know got meant for us to have They're not your way out of the hood, you know to early retirement Shannon: No. Shun: They're not even to win a prize Shannon: Yeah. Shun: On the man, you know, you have a baby's a prize. I want a spot on the man list No, Shannon: Right. Shun: besides it being wrong morally It can also cause a lot of damage physically and emotionally when a child is brought into the world under those circumstances, you know Shannon: Yeah. Shun: and the most detrimental part of all of this is when The pregnancy turns volatile, you know between the parents Shannon: Mmm. Shun: one or two things are going to happen If you have a child under these conditions, you know The child the father will either resent you and not want anything to do with the child which means your decision has now robbed that baby of having a bond or relationship with the father or They'll do the right thing and become a part of the child's life and then they can't stay in you and what kind of life? Is that for the kids, you know constantly Shannon: Mm-hmm. Shun: seeing their parents at odds it will affect them for sure Especially as they get older because all that bitterness will make co-parenting impossible And thus crushes any chance of that child to have both parents in the room, you know when their big moments come so either Shannon: Mm-hmm. Shun: way the kid loses and That's what we need you to think about when it comes to this topic. You think about all the celebrities Nick Cannon Maraq here the terrible relationships they have and although Shannon: Yeah. Shun: Kanye West and what's that girl named the Kardashian Shannon: Kim, Shun: girl Kim Kardashian? Shannon: Kim. Shun: We made come on now You can say I was in love But you know from some of these angles are really what these women were going for and again We're doing this episode because some men are not you know, swift enough to recognize what it is. Like oh I got her No, it's all a come-up. They build them a name. Shannon: Right. Shun: So this isn't just Apply to us regular everyday girls who punch clocks It is women out there in the world with their own money that's looking to get more money What we're Shannon: Yeah. Shun: saying is don't put those kids in those situations, you know Shannon: Yeah, Shun: So Shannon: and Shun: you Shannon: the Shun: don't Shannon: men Shun: have to Shannon: know Shun: be destitute Shannon: it too. Shun: this message is not for destitute poor women. It's for all Shannon: Hahaha Shun: women Because women of any economical background can have that mindset So I like to be clear when we're doing these shows of who we're gearing. We're targeting every Shannon: Yeah, Shun: a Shannon: we Shun: bird Shannon: are. Shun: makes a tree up. Shannon: And Shun: Now Shannon: you mentioned Shun: now Shannon: you mentioned Shun: go ahead. Shannon: celebrity. Yeah, you mentioned Shun: Yeah. Shannon: celebrity. So I mean, Jay Z, you know, he says, he you've never seen an ugly billionaire. So he knows that the only Shun: and Shannon: way he's getting Shun: Right, but let me tell you now even when men are targeting women with their money That's cool, too. Like I said if you want to be on the come up Get yourself from birth control do whatever you got to do abstinent and come Shannon: Hehehehe Shun: up with them I'm just saying to X about X arm. Oh lord. I'm just saying when it concerns children, you Shannon: Children. Shun: know to think about it Shannon: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh yeah. Shun: That's what Shannon: Because Shun: I'm saying Shannon: that's another thing. Yeah, because that's another thing with the celebrities or even the rich folks or these women that get with the men and they have these babies. A lot of times, if you look, the men end up, they end up leaving. So these kids Shun: Yeah. Shannon: get the short end of stick. They may, of course, due to alimony and child support or whatever, they still may live a decent life. But it's not. It's not what you saw, I'm sure, when you started down the path with this guy. Shun: That's it. Shannon: I'm sure you Shun: And Shannon: thought Shun: like I Shannon: you Shun: said. Shannon: were gonna have a wonderful future, Shun: And like Shannon: but Shun: you Shannon: for Shun: said Shannon: the wrong Shun: to Jay-Z Shannon: reason. Shun: said Shannon: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Shun: yeah, you never saw ugly billionaire. That's what I'm saying So even if the man is with it, oh, let's get together. I got this money You still have to think long term what kind of qualities Shannon: Yeah. Shun: is this man brain? You know what I'm saying? Because if it's not father material money can't make him father material Shannon: now. Shun: So even if you don't trick the guy even if you aren't just going out and snaking your way in to get on the come-up Like I said, even if they introduce it to you, no, thank you. We can date We can we Shannon: Hehehe Shun: can ball out you can do whatever but don't bring a kid into that situation If this guy if you can't look at him and say I see myself with him in 50 years 20 years At least till the child is grown don't do it, you know, Shannon: Right, Shun: just don't do it. And Shannon: right. Shun: you know Shannon It's another angle to this topic too that we discussed having children on the system over and over is just as bad, Shannon: over Shun: you know Shannon: and over here. Shun: You know a lot of us have been down on our luck at one point or another right and needed some assistance Shannon: Mm-hmm, yep. Shun: or help From the government family friends, whoever that's a life, right? And that's what family and friends should do. That's what the system was created for to assist when you're down on your luck But having a baby and then another baby and then another baby to increase what monthly benefits the government's giving you is wrong And I say that with all the love possible ladies again, never judge and never beat you down But we have to want better for ourselves. We Shannon: Yeah. Shun: have to want better for those kids we're choosing to bring into the world. Shannon: and get out of survival mode. And if Shun: and Shannon: you, Shun: get out of survivor mode. Shannon: yeah, and the only way to get out of survival mode is to stop using the system and to use your own two feet, Shun: That's it. Shannon: you know? Shun: And what you may you may get a few dollars every you know A few more dollars every Shannon: Oh, Shun: month Shannon: yeah. Shun: after you have another kid But is that worth the years of responsibility that comes with raising a Shannon: Mm. Shun: child, right? And I'm Shannon: Right. Shun: gonna get a little deep and say Something that must be said some of y'all are not even caring for the kids you have on the system Shannon: Mm-hmm. Shun: So I have more on top of it, you Shannon: Yeah, Shun: know again, you Shannon: yeah. Shun: know, no judgment It's just that we have to do better as women Shannon: Mm hmm. Shun: Sometimes Shannon: Yeah. Shun: the only way to do better is to know better, right? And that's Shannon: Right. Shun: why we choose to go here today not to be little anyone Shannon: Mm-hmm. Shun: that's a downgrade Shannon: Right. Shun: anyone Shannon: Not Shun: Some Shannon: at Shun: people Shannon: all. Shun: have come from a family that lives off of the system and that's all they know So let us tell Shannon: Yeah. Shun: you that it's a better way if you haven't seen it if you haven't heard That's what we're here for to tell you. It's a better way Shannon: Yeah, Shun: It's a stepping Shannon: and I can tell Shun: stone. Shannon: people. Shun: It shouldn't be a it shouldn't be a staying place Shannon: Right, it's a stepping stone. And I look back, you know, I'm single mother, you know, trying to make ends meet before I got into technology. You know, I had worked two jobs. Shun: That Shannon: I had Shun: means Shannon: to do what Shun: the Shannon: I had Shun: girl Shannon: to do, you Shun: talk Shannon: know? Shun: about I worked to Shannon: And, Shun: and went to college and nursing school talk about it Shannon: yeah. And I remember in the 90s, my mother said, you need to buy something, a piece of property. you know, you need that for, you know, for your taxes, you know, whatever. And I was like, buy something, I make $12 an hour. I make Shun: What Shannon: $12 Shun: am I buying? Shannon: an hour. And she said, you can go buy something. And I'm telling you, my mother is that way. And sure enough, I went out and purchased a $60,000 condo, making 12. dollars an hour. So people, I know nowadays that was the 90s, you're not going to find a Shun: Right. Shannon: condo for 60,000. But my point is that $12 an hour, I didn't let that stop me. I did the research, I did the math and it turned out of course my mortgage payment ended up being less than my rent. So Shun: See and that and Shannon: it, Shun: that's the thing Shannon: my mother was smart. Shun: She was and that's the thing though You said 12 000 an hour. I know it's not possible to buy a 60 000 condo But you also are not making 12 000 an hour. You're not thinking minimum Shannon: Right. Shun: wages what 15 16 dollars or Shannon: Yep. Shun: whatever it is Shannon: Mm-hmm. Shun: Where there's a Shannon: Yep. Shun: will there's a way maybe Shannon: There's Shun: you can't Shannon: a Shun: purchase Shannon: way. Shun: a condo. But if your Hourly rate if you're a salary in whatever town or state you live in you can buy something Well within that range Shannon: Mm-hmm. Right. Shun: If your minimum wage is $13, well more than likely they're not gonna have a whole lot of $200,000 houses Buy what you can Shannon: Right, Shun: afford and even Shannon: that's Shun: if it's not Shannon: right. Shun: what you want Buy what you can afford. My first Shannon: Yeah. Shun: house was beautiful. I bought it at 24 It wasn't what I wanted shan. It was what I can afford but it was nice Shannon: Yeah. Shun: It wasn't raggedy. It wasn't no holes in it. It was actually brand new remodel it wasn't in a desired Shannon: Mm-hmm. Shun: neighborhood, but it was a safe neighborhood for my daughter and Shannon: Yeah. Shun: I because Her father was gone and I was a single mom and I was doing what I had to do So it can Shannon: Mm-hmm. Shun: be done, you know, Shannon: It can Shun: it Shannon: be Shun: absolutely Shannon: done. Shun: can't be done and for people that are listening may say now What the heck what is the correlation between? Men Shannon: Peace. Shun: with money and the system. Well, let me let me tell you the children become pawns either way Shannon: Yep. Shun: One just pays better than the other right? So we want to cover all bases to make it clear We're not just talking about women who are having children for checks when it comes to men We're talking about women who are having children for any financial reason it Shannon: Yes, Shun: it's no good You know Shannon: not Shun: and Shannon: at Shun: i'll Shannon: all. Shun: wrap up and leave you guys with this before I go into the red line When it comes to children's for check, it's plenty of ways to secure and achieve Security in life shannon just talked about buying a recondo invested in property having a tax write-off There's plenty of ways to do it having children for a financial gain should never be an option And that's just all we want you guys to see here That Shannon: Exactly. Shun: should never be option because I want to make that clear because I know somebody like how they go from Shannon: Hahaha Shun: rich ballers It's her welfare system. It's all the same Shannon: I Shun: either Shannon: can't. Shun: way Don't allow those kids to become a way for you to come up or get over, you know Choose better Shannon: Right. Shun: and do better, you know, it's not Shannon: Yeah. Shun: healthier wise for anyone involved, but it's especially harmful for those innocent kids. So They have no choice and who their parents are kids have no choice and our poor decisions So let's make sure that we set them up from the start on a good track and on a good path. Have a better Shannon: Yeah. Shun: story to tell about how they came into the world and not let it be financial gain. All right, you got anything else to answer that sister? Shannon: I have nothing else other than love your children people. Love your Shun: Love Shannon: children. Shun: them and have them for the right reasons Shannon: Yes. Shun: All right sister. I'm gonna go off into the red line for tonight Shannon: All right. Shun: Alright this week's red line is titled money goes away, but children are here to stay Ladies, I hope I've given you something to think about when it comes to the harm You can cause by bringing children into the world for financial reasons only but it also but it's also else something else I want you to think about and consider as a mother money comes and goes the responsibility of raising that child is a lifetime commitment Let's say you do trap a decent father and he pays child support at the age of 18 and maybe I think it's 21 to some states Once they're that age that's gone And it's the same for the government once the child's of a certain age Shannon: Mm-hmm. Shun: you're cut off. Then what? sadly, um I know it's some mothers that'll say when the money's gone I don't want the child either because they no longer serve a purpose and then There are moms who are honestly lost because once the money is gone, you're just stuck with this young adult Shannon: Yeah. Shun: who's now angry or vital i'm, sorry volatile because That's all they've seen from you and the father because you never want really wanted them in the first place and damaged people Hurt people damaged people Shannon: Hmm? Shun: will leave a path of other damaged people and the cycle will just continue Now we also Shannon: All right. Shun: know from my own story That sometimes you become the exception right to your circumstances and you turn out just fine Yes, it's a possibility that a baby born out of financial gain can just can just be fine The parents can be great and everything can rock and roll but check the odds and see often that happens Shannon: Right. Shun: so if you Think with that mentality ask yourself. Is it worth it in the end because no one can assure the outcome Or is it wiser to just be a good person and let life? Let the life that is already predestined for you find you And that's my Redline topic for tonight. Shannon: So if you would like to win a $100 gift card, submit your red line topic to wifeyandbabymama at gmail.com. And the third Thursday of each month, as you all know, the third Thursday of each month, we will choose one of those submissions. And that submission we will read on air. And that individual will receive a $100 gift card. If you want your $100 gift card, send your red lines in, wifeyandbabymama at gmail.com. We look forward to reading them. Thanks so much to everyone. All right, now into our final segment of the night. It is the fictional family I'm feeling. Okay, the fictional family I'm feeling tonight. as the Murphy family. Diana and David Murphy from Indecent Proposal. And as those of you who've seen the movie, which many people have, it's from the 90s. Shun: You Shannon: I Shun: know I have. Shannon: know you have. Shun: I watch all the moves. Shannon: So we know this billionaire, Saul. uh diana david's wife and said oh i want her and he offered a million dollars if he could have a night with her and david you know because they were going through financial difficulties or whatever they sat down as a couple and decided we can use the money so they she goes off or whatever and of course how do you think things go things fall upended or whatever. And then the scene I'm coming to is the scene where she's at the tea party, gets rained out or whatever brunch tea party. They're in a garden outside setting and Shun: It's an auction. Shannon: um oh it's an awesome oh see you know all the details. You probably remember what they were wearing. Shun: I'll wait, but go ahead. Shannon: I don't see see. Lord. Okay, so, Shun: I need a life Shannon: um, Shun: right go ahead Shannon: so he, uh, he's there. He says, I'm going to give you the divorce that you want. And he says to her, he says, I was foolish to think that we could go back to the way things were after what we did. Because that decision, even though she was the one that slept with the billionaire, the decision was theirs collectively as a married couple. And he says, one thing I learned, or one thing I know, maybe not necessarily learned is that, you know, what happens at a marriage, you can forgive, but you can't forget what Shun: Mm-hmm. Shannon: you've done to each other. He signs the divorce papers and he says to her, he says, one thing, I just didn't want you to be with him. He said, because I thought he was better than me. I thought he was the better man. He said, but now I see. No, he's not. He just has more money. And I'm like, powerful. So, that thought right there, let him see his self-worth, which everyone, including all the ladies that we're talking to, you know, see your own self-worth and know that money is not going to do it. You can go make the money. I'm not knocking making money. Believe me, Sean and I are all about Shun: Right. Shannon: making money. We're not out here trying to get it. in ways that we did not really put our hard earned earnest work into. That's Shun: Absolutely. Shannon: the message we want to get across. So they gave up, almost lost their marriage. So if you saw the movie, you know, in the end, they ended up getting back together, but their marriage was almost ruined for money. Everything can be ruined for money. So make sure if you're trying to build and grow. you're doing it the way you should do it and not off of someone else's back, whether it's Shun: That's Shannon: the Shun: it. Shannon: baller or the system. Shun: And you Shannon: And Shun: know, Shannon: that Shun: in Shannon: is Shun: that. Shannon: the fiction of, oh, I'm sorry, go ahead, Sean. Shun: No, no, I was I thought yeah before you wrap it up. I was trying to catch you. That's Shannon: Yeah, yeah. Shun: a very important part and although they had no children and the move less insert. They Shannon: Mm Shun: do have kids You Shannon: hmm. Shun: know how detrimental Shannon: Yes. Shun: that could have been? You know what i'm Shannon: Oh, Shun: saying, Shannon: yeah. Shun: but they did have Shannon: Yeah. Shun: a baby in a sort of way. Remember they had the house They had that dream house Shannon: Yeah, Shun: and so Shannon: bad Shun: they Shannon: dream Shun: ended Shannon: house. Shun: up Having her sleep with the man because she said this is how we could buy that house we want But let me tell you that god can give you anything you want If you do the Shannon: Anything. Shun: work and if you follow his lead, I know that because I just finished a book that took Me 10 years that seemed impossible But if you do the work if you do it in his will his timing and guess what? Sometimes we want things and we don't want the process of going through it a process the process Sometimes is all about learning Maybe in the time it takes you to get some money on your own or to marry a decent regular guy and you build To it together you learn the things in life. You need to go so that you can raise that perfect family If you rush it and you pass go then guess what you're doing. You're ruining the child off the top Sometimes going through the process is all a part of getting to where we need to be So people want the promise they want the testimony without the test. We got to take the whole route We got to take we can't skip any steps I guarantee is not going to turn out the way you think maybe for a little Shannon: right. Shun: while but in the end It'll end badly So Shannon: Yeah. Shun: that was great. And like you said, they almost lost their marriage now All the money in the world didn't mean what she meant to him. So in that moment it seemed okay But in the scheme of things it totally ruined him as a person. I think he started drinking and she wasn't happy Shannon: Oh yeah, Shun: you know, Shannon: nope. Shun: so Money is never the answer. So that is a great Shannon: Never. Shun: fictional family girl awesome Shannon: No, thank you. All right, so that is our show for tonight. We thank you all for joining us and we look forward to next week, 730, Thursday, every week. We love that we're growing. Last week, I think we were in eight countries, this week we're in nine. Shun: Nine, Shannon: So. Shun: yeah! Shannon: Nine countries, I guess, yes, I'm supposed to clap and cheer for Shun: Yeah. Shannon: our nine countries as we're growing across the globe. We are so Shun: We are Shannon: happy. Shun: going to celebrate us as we give these people advice to share and we're going to celebrate our steps also Shannon: Yes, yes, we are. We are. And we appreciate you celebrating with us. Shun: Absolutely and keep listening. Shannon: Yes, he's listening. All right, until next week. Shun: Love you all. Bye.
