Show Notes

Welcome to the The Pilot Project, a show that will take on the never aired, lost, and unloved pilots of TV shows that never were or didn't make it. In every full episode we'll break down one pilot and tell you how it came to be and how it all fell apart. Then, in the mini episodes we'll talk about the stuff that stuck with us since we watched the last pilot and talk about what's coming next.

In this first episode, we talk about the show's concept and discuss our first breakdown on the next episode: 1990's Cop Rock. To watch the Cop Rock pilot, you can watch it on YouTube for free here.

About Cop Rock

In 1987, ABC gave Steven Bochco (Hillstreet Blues, Doogie Howser) a 10-episode deal because he could do no wrong. But it turns out he could.

After a failed attempt to turn Hillstreet into a Broadway musical, we got Cop Rock: a hybrid police drama and wacky musical that is somehow neither. The show ran for 11 episodes before being canceled.
