(mouse clicks) The software engineering landscape is changing at a rapid pace. And honestly, this is something that we've been experiencing for the entirety of the software engineering world, but something has changed and I think we all know what it is. It's AI, AI has rapidly accelerated the pace of change for software engineers. And for a lot of us, we end up in this situation where we can build things so much faster, so much faster in fact that you can build the wrong thing even faster and things can get pretty expensive. That's always been a problem and that's why I am here to help alleviate some of that pain. My name is Kent C. Dodds and for the last over a decade, I've been teaching developers just like you how to build better user experiences to make the world a better place. So I used to teach testing and React and full stack development and all sorts of things in that realm and I do still have those courses and they're still valuable for people who use them. But now we've got these AI coding assistants that are pretty much handling much of the implementation details for us and we're just trying to wrangle those and figure out how we can build most effectively with them. But more than how to build with agents, it's what to build with agents that I want to dive into. And so I started a podcast called Become an Epic Product Engineer that you can go subscribe to right now. On this podcast, I have guests that come on and talk about their perspective on what it means to be a product engineer. We talk about all sorts of things and so you definitely wanna go take a look at that. But I felt like I needed to do a little bit more and so I'm starting another series called Better with Kent and this is gonna be distributed on YouTube as well as Spotify and Apple Podcasts, all sorts of places wherever you get your podcasts. And this is going to be all about of course knowing what to build but even maybe how to build it with the agents as we have them today. I'm going to be reacting to the news that's going on so feel free to leave comments below and on the things that you want me to talk about, send me a message on X or wherever else and we can address those. I'm also actually going to be live streaming my recordings here on YouTube and various other platforms so you can join in on those live streams and give your thoughts and things as I'm recording these videos and I plan on being a very regular creator on YouTube and these other platforms. And part of the reason is I think that there's a lot of, a lot of things that I want to share with you about developing software in the latest way that we do that. And also I have this little goal, like it's a vanity thing I know but for over a decade I've had this YouTube channel and it's at 57,000 subscribers right now and I haven't really tried to do anything with it. Just putting up live streams and putting up random videos here and there. Well now I'm actually going to take it seriously and my goal is to hit 100,000 subscribers by the end of the year. So you can help me out by subscribing to YouTube and sharing and commenting and liking and all of that stuff. But again, it's a vanity metric. So we'll see if we can manage that. Really my ultimate goal is just to help you navigate the world as it is as a software developer these days. Things are just changing at a rapid pace and as much as I enjoy running around chasing the models and figuring out like why this new one is better than that one or whatever, I'm being a little sarcastic 'cause I don't actually enjoy that. I enjoy getting the new things and I like that but I don't want to have to constantly be chasing this. So I want to focus you on durable skills that you can develop and will continue to serve you even as models improve and continue to eat a little bit more of what we're doing as software developers. So that's my goal. I just want to help you build better solutions to bigger problems and hopefully we make the world better as we go.
