Sermons from Church of the Incarnation, Dallas

We all know what it feels like to see a gap between the person we are and the person we long to become. We want to be more loving, less anxious, more patient, more faithful—but too often we find ourselves stuck in the same patterns.

In Romans 8, the Apostle Paul reveals why. God's law shows us what the good life looks like, but rules alone cannot transform the human heart. Left to ourselves, we lack the power to become who God created us to be.

The good news is that God has done what we could never do on our own. Through the Holy Spirit, God doesn't simply forgive us—He dwells within us. The Spirit frees us from the power of sin, reshapes our desires, and begins closing the gap between our lives as they are and the lives they were always meant to be.

Our hope isn't stronger willpower. Our hope is the living presence of God at work within us.
