Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a reported online threat involving a student from a local public school.
On Friday, June 12, 2026, at approximately 9:20 a.m., officers received information regarding a concerning video posted to social media by a student that suggested a potential threat to individuals at the school.
Dufferin OPP attended and conducted an investigation. It was determined that a hold and secure was not required, and there was no immediate risk to the safety of students or staff.
As a result of the investigation, a 12-year-old student has been arrested and charged with two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm under the Criminal Code. In accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), the identity of the youth cannot be released.
The youth will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on a future date.
This incident is considered isolated, and there are no ongoing concerns for student or public safety.
