गुरुदक्षिणा

पूर्वकाले गुरवः शिष्यान् बोधयितु, तेभ्यः गुरुदक्षिणां स्वीकर्तुं वा बहुधा परीक्षाः कुर्वन्ति  स्म । गुरुतः चतस्रः विद्याः प्राप्तवान् कश्चन शिष्यः गुरुदक्षिणा का इति पृष्टे, गुरुः अवदत् 'उच्छिष्टं, वान्तं, काकविष्ठातः आगतं, शवस्योपरि आच्छादितं वस्त्रं चेति चत्वारि वस्तूनि आनीय ददातु' इति ।  गुरुणा पृष्टानि वस्तूनि अपवित्राणि सन्ति चेदपि अन्तरार्थः कोऽपि स्यात् इति विचिन्त्य वस्तूनाम् अन्वेषणाय ततः निर्गतवान् । गच्छता कालेन तेन ज्ञातं यत् गुरुणा पृष्टाणि चत्वारि वस्तूनि एवं सन्ति इति - गोक्षीरमेव उच्छिष्टम्, मधुमक्षिकाभिः वान्तं मधु, काकविष्ठातः आगतम् अश्वत्थबीजं, कौशेयवस्त्रमेव शववस्त्रम् ।

In ancient times, teachers often tested their disciples before accepting guru dakshina. One such disciple was asked to bring four impure objects—leftovers, vomit, crow droppings, and a cloth from a corpse. Though puzzled, the disciple believed there was a deeper meaning and set out to find these items. Over time, he realized their symbolic significance: Leftovers represented cow’s milk, Vomit referred to honey, regurgitated by bees. Something from crow droppings symbolized the sacred Ashwattha (peepal) seed. Cloth from a corpse meant fine silk.

What is बालमोदिनी?

सम्भाषणसन्देशः इति संस्कृतमासिकपत्रिका (https://sambhashanasandesha.in) । एतस्यां पत्रिकायां प्रकाशिताः लेखाः, कथाः, बालकथाः, वार्ताः इत्यादिकं सर्वम् अपि सरलसंस्कृतेन एव प्रकाश्यते । तत्रत्याः “बालमोदिनी”नामिकाः बालकथाः अत्र प्रसार्यन्ते । अतः अस्याः शृङ्खलायाः नाम अपि “बालमोदिनी” एव । लघु गात्रं, सरला भाषा च कथानां विशेषः । प्रत्येकं कथा काञ्चित् नीतिं बोधयति । बालकथाः आबालवृद्धं सर्वेषां प्रियाः । संस्कृतेन ताः श्रोतुम् उपलब्धाः भवन्तु इति एषः प्रयत्नः श्रोतृभ्यः अवश्यं रोचेत इति विश्वासः । संस्कृतक्षेत्रे संस्कृतेन पॉड्कास्ट् क्रियमाणाः एताः प्रप्रथमाः कथाः इति सगौरवम् उद्घोष्यते ।

It is believed that listeners will appreciate this effort to make these stories available in Sanskrit. These are the first stories to be podcasted in the Sanskrit language within this field.
