Overanalyzed with Dom & Kyla

Season 15 of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is coming to a dramatic end. We have minor levels of stalking (hi, Sutton), reflections of love (hey, Kyle), unpublished manuscripts (hello, Dorit), amazing levels of unbotheredness (yo, Erika), petty one-upping (hiya, Amanda), and too much coddling to feel comfortable (do better, Boz and Rachel).

Dom Torres and Kyla Denanyoh are discussing Dorit’s book cover release party and how Boz and Rachel could have been better friends to Dorit. Not only does Rachel begin discussing drama that is not relevant to the event, but Boz does not snap Dorit into awareness that the event is about her and that she should focus on herself. Both Dom and Kyla agree that they would want a friend to hold them accountable for staying present in the moment.

Dorit is very upset that Kyle and Erika do not attend her book cover party, but Dom correctly mentions that Dorit should not have expected either woman to attend. Sutton sent a late decline to the event. Kyle overexplained (and felt overly guilty) about what she could not attend. Erika did not say anything, letting her absence speak volumes.

Later, the cast all attend a jewelry event, and we get a cameo by Nicky Hilton while Kathy is hosting. Dorit behaves like a mean girl, even though she pretends to fear that behavior in the episode. Sutton chases Dorit around the party, again asking Dorit to acknowledge her, and Dorit is disturbingly dismissive to Sutton. Here is where Dom and Kyla disagree: Kyla believes Dorit has repeatedly said she is not interested in speaking with Sutton and that she should be given space. Sutton has taken those words as a personal challenge (or as a reflection of her anxious attachment style) to get closer to Dorit… literally. Sutton is chasing Dorit around the Theo & Grace event, much like she did at Rachel’s Studio 54 party.

While the Real Housewives would be much too woo-woo and subdued if every woman acknowledged their worth and did not spend time trying to rekindle dead friendships, Kyla is frustrated that Sutton cannot take Dorit’s comments and actions at face value and remove herself.
In a great show of strength, Kyle stands up to Dorit and asks the cast to speak up and acknowledge that most of them have been discussing Dorit and her erratic behavior or tardiness all season. Only the camera can tell us the truth in Parts 1-3 of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunions.
