सुविचार्य हि कर्तव्यम्

कस्यचिदपि उपदेशस्य कण्ठस्थीकरणे न किमपि प्रयोजनम्, अपि तु तस्मिन् निहितं तथ्यं सम्यक् विचारणीयं भवति । ये तत् न कुर्वन्ति ते पुनः सङ्कटे पतन्ति, कष्टानि च अनुभवन्ति । तादृशी एव परिस्थितिः कथायाम् अस्याम् अभवत् शुकानाम् । यत् ऋषिः पाठितवान् तत् केवलं कण्ठस्थीकृतवन्तः । किन्तु व्याधेन एकः प्रयोगः कृतः येन ते शुकाः जाले आगत्य निपतिताः । सद्य एव आगतवता ऋषिणा शुकानां मूर्खता अवगता । सः व्याधं प्रतिबोध्य शुकान् जालात् विमुक्तान् कारितवान् ।

Memorizing teachings without understanding their true meaning serves no purpose. Those who fail to reflect on wisdom often face hardships. Such was the fate of a group of parrots in this story. They merely memorized the sage’s lessons but never grasped their essence. When a hunter devised a trick, they were caught in his net. Realizing their ignorance, the sage intervened, enlightened the hunter and freed the parrots.
