उपदेशाचरणयोः अन्तरम्

कदाचित् कश्चन बौद्धभिक्षुः कम्बोजराज्यम् आगत्य महाराजं तिङ्गभिङ्गं प्रति तस्य राज्यस्य राजपुरोहितः भवितुम् इच्छामि इति कामनां प्राकटयत् । किन्तु राजा 'पुनरपि एकवारं धर्मग्रन्थानाम् आवृत्तिं कृत्वा अगच्छेत्' इति अवदत् । कुपितः सन् सः भिक्षुः किमपि अनुक्त्वा धर्मग्रन्थानाम् अध्ययनम् एकवर्षं यावत् कृत्वा पुनरागच्छति । किन्तु राजा 'एकान्तवासम् अनुभवन् पुनरपि धर्मग्रन्थानां पारायणं करोति चेत् उत्तमं भवति' इति वदति । नागरिकप्रपञ्चस्य समग्रकोलाहलतः दूरे नदीतीरे प्रार्थनाकरणेन भिक्षुणा आनन्दः प्राप्तः । यदा राजा स्वयमेव गत्वा भिक्षुम् आह्वयति तावता भिक्षोः कामना संपूर्णतया अपगता आसीत् । उपदेशेन अहङ्कारः भवति किन्तु आचरणेन आनन्दः भवति ।

A Buddhist monk approaches King Tingabhanga of Kamboja, expressing a desire to become the royal priest. The king instructs him to study religious scriptures once more before returning. The monk, annoyed but determined, spends a year studying and returns, only to be asked to retreat in solitude and reread the texts. The monk complies and, through prayer by a river far from worldly chaos, finds deep joy. When the king invites him back, the monk realizes his desire has faded, discovering that teaching brings pride, but practicing virtue leads to true happiness.

सम्भाषणसन्देशः इति संस्कृतमासिकपत्रिका (https://sambhashanasandesha.in) । एतस्यां पत्रिकायां प्रकाशिताः लेखाः, कथाः, बालकथाः, वार्ताः इत्यादिकं सर्वम् अपि सरलसंस्कृतेन एव प्रकाश्यते । तत्रत्याः “बालमोदिनी”नामिकाः बालकथाः अत्र प्रसार्यन्ते । अतः अस्याः शृङ्खलायाः नाम अपि “बालमोदिनी” एव । लघु गात्रं, सरला भाषा च कथानां विशेषः । प्रत्येकं कथा काञ्चित् नीतिं बोधयति । बालकथाः आबालवृद्धं सर्वेषां प्रियाः । संस्कृतेन ताः श्रोतुम् उपलब्धाः भवन्तु इति एषः प्रयत्नः श्रोतृभ्यः अवश्यं रोचेत इति विश्वासः । संस्कृतक्षेत्रे संस्कृतेन पॉड्कास्ट् क्रियमाणाः एताः प्रप्रथमाः कथाः इति सगौरवम् उद्घोष्यते ।
