Bill Filipiak (00:00) I'm just waiting on the right wave to ride. Hello from El Porto, California, and the Americana Coast Podcast. This is your daily pep talk. One of the key elements of surfing is the pop-up. That transition from when you're lying on the board and paddling to when you're actually standing up and riding the wave, right? And if you go online, you'll find a thousand and one tutorials on the perfect pop-up. And yes, there are some universal truths. Position on the board, position on the wave, timing, all of these things take practice. But you also have to recognize that what works for somebody else may not work for you. And what works for you may not necessarily work for somebody else. Your age, flexibility, physical ability, these things all come into play as well. What has to happen is you have to get out there and do it and figure out what works for you. Now this is coming from a novice who's still figuring it out. But I do know that it's no different than anything else in life. Everybody will offer you advice, which is great, and you take that information in, you study it, but then ultimately you have to get out there and do it and figure out what works for you. Because it's personal. Riding a wave is very personal. The ocean is personal. Activities are personal. You have to determine what works for you. One thing that will work for everybody is being good to each other, being kind to each other, and loving out each other. That makes it more fun for everybody. So get out there, find out what works for you, and have a great day.
