#5Things: This Week in Social

This week on the #5Things, learn all about LinkedIn Collaborative Articles, #deinfluencing on TikTok, the recently announced Olympic eSports series, and more!

The Things:
  1.  LinkedIn Launches ‘Collaborative Articles’ Powered by AI: These articles will use AI-generated prompts to call on expert/seasoned users for their real-life, specific work advice in response to the prompts
  2.  From #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt to #deinfluencing, Ads in Feed to Paywalled Content: - TikTok users are starting to use the #deinfluencing hashtag to uncover the truth about supposedly game-changing products, and creating content around what not to buy; allthewhile TikTok introduces long-form (20 Min Max) Paywalled Content collections for fans, called TikTok Series
  3. Reddit announces testing of a TikTok-like feature: Aimed to declutter and enhance the discovery experience, Reddit will separate text and video content into individual feeds labelled as “read” and “watch,” and will include posts that users are subscribed to as well as recommendations in each
  4. Esports industry’s response to newly announced Olympic Esports Series: The International Olympic Committee announced its first worldwide esports competition, but has since been criticized and considered an alternative version of Esports w/o major game titles (still a large opportunity for advertisers)
  5. SoundCloud & Spotify Pursue Vertical Discovery Feeds à la TikTok – SoundCloud is testing an AI-powered vertical discovery feature and Spotify a new homepage replacing its standard carousel with its TikTok-style response.
