I think of is the grace of God that saves us. 00:14:17.260 --> 00:14:20.260 That grace is given to us while we were sinners. 00:14:20.460 --> 00:14:22.180 Grace that we did not deserve. 00:14:22.420 --> 00:14:31.060 We deserve punishment, we deserve wrath, but instead what we get is salvation and forgiveness in God through Christ alone. 00:14:31.260 --> 00:14:36.640 And when we hear grace and we think of that, most of the time, you and I are absolutely correct. 00:14:37.140 --> 00:14:40.620 The problem is that's not what Paul is talking about in that grace. 00:14:41.320 --> 00:14:44.240 And so I want to explain what Paul is talking about. 00:14:44.240 --> 00:14:52.400 You know, sometimes even in the English language that we have a word that is spelled the same, it looks the same, but about sports and I say, you know, when I was growing up, I played, I was a pitcher. 00:15:03.560 --> 00:15:11.140 And you hear that, and even if you don't know baseball, no one thinks that I was a vessel that held water that got poured out. 00:15:11.180 --> 00:15:11.380 Right? 00:15:11.880 --> 00:15:14.800 You hear the word pitcher and you know what that means. 00:15:14.980 --> 00:15:20.200 You are the guy that stood on the mound, that grabbed the baseball and threw it at the catcher and tried to get it by the batter. 00:15:20.420 --> 00:15:26.400 But when we look at the word pitcher, for us in the English language, it means different things. 00:15:26.580 --> 00:15:31.600 A pitcher that you can pour into your glass to drink from, or a pitcher in baseball. 00:15:31.980 --> 00:15:34.140 Well, grace here is kind of the same thing. 00:15:34.820 --> 00:15:40.280 What theologians refer to is that there is saving grace and there's equipping grace. 00:15:40.820 --> 00:15:44.080 And the equipping grace is what Paul is talking about here. 00:15:44.240 --> 00:15:50.960 Because he goes on to say that each one of us, according to the measure of Christ's gift. 00:15:51.040 -->
