Princeton Theological Seminary

"But God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ —by grace you have been saved."

The Gospel always turns on the holy word “but.” We were dead, but God made us alive. None of us can self-construct a life. But grace brings us back to life in Christ’s community.
