Even though almost half of Small Businesses report open positions, staff shortages are no longer their top concern. Instead, it’s about inflation. The March Small Business Optimism Index is reporting inflation has shoved aside labor issues as the #1 concern. Fighting to survive, 72% of small businesses have raised prices. Within small business sectors, the hikes are most pronounced in wholesale, construction, agriculture, and retail. Used to be, when people heard Small Business, they thought of mom and pop operations. Nothing could be further from the truth. Revenue can range between 1 and $40 million and employ between 100 and 1500.
