This week, we take a break from our sermon series in Colossians to look at Biblical womanhood and the role model of Deborah in the book of Judges. Women have a role to play and it's not on the sideline.
Judges 4:1-3
Look at the sequence of things:
- They were living against God
- They wanted God to help them
Look at the wording of things:
- They were doing "what was evil" in God’s eyes
- They "cry out" to God for help
Look at the state of things:
- They believe living however they want is freedom
- They are in a state of corruption, brokenness, and chaos
Detaching from God doesn’t lead to our destiny, it leads to destruction
Judges 4:4-7
Deborah was a divinely gifted woman
Deborah was a declarer of truth
Deborah was devoted to God
Judges 4:8-10
Barack’s tragically of misplaced hope
“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.” - Psalm 20:7
In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes. -
Judges 21:25
And the LORD said to Samuel, “Listen to the voice of the people in all that they say to you. For it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected Me as their king.” - 1 Samuel 8:7
