Nobody decides to stop loving God. The drift is quieter than that. In Malachi's day, the priests were still showing up, still going through the motions — but the offerings had quietly slipped from "the best" to "the leftovers," and they couldn't even see it. This episode sits in that uncomfortable gap between routine and real devotion, then turns to Jesus' answer to the question,
what matters most? The way back from drift isn't trying harder at the rituals. It's returning to love.
