The Saturday Matinée • Movies, News, Games, and Lists!

Show Notes

Ah, yes, another Saturday Matinée is upon us. This week, Tommy Metz purportedly hosts Pete Wright and Rob Kubasko in a rousing round of list-making and brain-breaking trivia connections.

Did you know they made a reboot of Mad About You? We didn't either. Not until Rob found it on Amazon Prime... along with the rest of the classic Helen Hunt/Paul Reiser sitcom.

Tommy's been watching Cheer so he can find a way to get on mat. It's a rough season for the teams what with COVID and bone-breaking and all that hullabaloo.

We're pretty gung-ho about Peacemaker over on HBOMax, but we're REALLY obsessed with the show's opening credits. If you want to dig a little deeper, check out this Billboard piece on the nearly-washed-out Norwegian metal band, Wig Wam, and how James Gunn fixed everything by picking 'Do You Wanna Taste It' as the show's iconic theme.

True story: Tommy was supposed to be directing a big fancy movie this weekend but just hours before we sat down to record, it all fell apart because COVID. So, tell him sorry when you get a chance and if you have a fancy mansion location that isn't just oozing pathogen and happens to be in L.A., hit him up. He'll be over in a few hours, bonded, crewed, and camera-ready.

Also, we play the movie game. Three rounds. They are painful because we're not very good at it. Enjoy yelling at your podcast device for about fifteen minutes.

THE LIST!

The knuckleheads last week handed us a list mystery: find movies in which rock stars play themselves in movies. Don't worry: Tommy got Prince on here. The list was therefore considered complete in round one.
