महामूर्खः कः‌?

ध्यानचन्दः वणिक् चेदपि सः जिज्ञासुः भगवद्भक्तः च आसीत् । कदाचित् नगरस्य महाश्रेष्ठी लक्ष्मीपतिः तं गृहम् आहूय तस्य शिरसि एकं शिरस्त्रं निधाय अवदत् 'एतत् महामूर्खाय दातुं कारितम्' इति । ध्यानचन्दः प्रतिवचनं किमपि न अवदत् । अथ कदाचित् लक्ष्मीपतिः अस्वस्थः जातः । तदा ध्यानचन्दः आगत्य तत् शिरस्त्रं लक्ष्मीपतेः शिरसि स्थापयित्वा अवदत् 'परलोकं प्रति किमपि नेतुं न शक्यते इति जानता अपि भवता आजीवनं प्रभूतं धनं सम्पादितम् । किन्तु इदानीं न धनम् उपकरोति, न वा उपकुर्वन्ति बान्धवपुत्रपत्न्यादयः । अतः मत्तः अपि श्रेष्ठः मूर्खः भवान् एव' इति ।

Dhyānachanda, though a merchant, was also a seeker and devotee of God. Once, the wealthy chief Lakshmipati called him home, placed a head-ornament on his head, and mocked: “This was made to be given to the greatest fool.” Dhyānachanda remained silent. Later, when Lakshmipati fell ill, Dhyānachanda came and placed the same ornament on his head, saying: “Though you know nothing can be carried to the next world, you spent your life amassing wealth. Now neither riches help you, nor do relatives or family. Therefore, you are a greater fool than I.”

सम्भाषणसन्देशः इति संस्कृतमासिकपत्रिका (https://sambhashanasandesha.in) । एतस्यां पत्रिकायां प्रकाशिताः लेखाः, कथाः, बालकथाः, वार्ताः इत्यादिकं सर्वम् अपि सरलसंस्कृतेन एव प्रकाश्यते । तत्रत्याः “बालमोदिनी”नामिकाः बालकथाः अत्र प्रसार्यन्ते । अतः अस्याः शृङ्खलायाः नाम अपि “बालमोदिनी” एव । लघु गात्रं, सरला भाषा च कथानां विशेषः । प्रत्येकं कथा काञ्चित् नीतिं बोधयति । बालकथाः आबालवृद्धं सर्वेषां प्रियाः । संस्कृतेन ताः श्रोतुम् उपलब्धाः भवन्तु इति एषः प्रयत्नः श्रोतृभ्यः अवश्यं रोचेत इति विश्वासः । संस्कृतक्षेत्रे संस्कृतेन पॉड्कास्ट् क्रियमाणाः एताः प्रप्रथमाः कथाः इति सगौरवम् उद्घोष्यते ।
