One last issue of
Urania for the road (
wiki link). This feminist journal was published from 1919 to 1940 and is composed of poems, news clippings, opinions, announcements, and letters related to the issue of a "
sex binary" in science, society, and culture. I am so thankful I came across this journal and I think it is important to let queer history inform our present-day conversations.
This week I am reading Issue Nos. 115 & 116, January-April 1936 (
pdf). It includes "An Authentic Change of Sex" of
Zdeněk Koubek, the author
Winifred Holtby, "Jesus Ignored Sex," Dr. Margaret Mead’s
Sex and Temperament, women’s
suffrage in Japan, and a trans book of essays called
Eve’s Sour Apples.
All events mentioned are pulled directly from
the QBurgh calendar.
