Today it’s all about Disruption - and how the fear of change can often be the thing that stops us moving forward.

You’ll hear I recorded this before the election result in America. Perhaps that sense of disruption was more present then - and for some, of course, it will feel more present now.

Sometimes (often?) even the things we seek to change can hold elements that spark our fear response. And sometimes (often?) we can find ourselves switching the focus of our fearful attention from one thing to another, as soon as that first thing has been dealt with.

What we're seeing around us now feels like a beautiful opportunity to bring our curiosity to how we're seeing this change play out.

The invitation is to join me on a exploration of how we can make Disruption into something Beautiful…

This episode includes some practical opportunities for self-reflection that come from the Beautiful Disruption retreat (part four of the ChangeFlow series), that we held last weekend. You may want a pen & paper handy or simply to be somewhere you can reflect on your own thoughts and experiences.

I close this episode with a moment of embodied mindfulness - an opportunity to connect with how it feels to allow ourselves to feel what we feel, and to see how it is to bring comfort to that experience.

 | 3’30” | We’re all feeling disruption in our own way…
 | 5’50” | What comes up for you when you think of Beautiful Disruption?
 | 7’30” | The fear of change can often be our greatest obstacle to making it happen - but it can be exciting, inspiring and invigorating.
 | 10’30” | When we’re willing to see ourselves and our situation with curiosity and compassion then we’re far more able to see the breadth of choices we have - and help us manage a tendency towards imagining we only have binary solutions (22’23”)
 | 14’00” | What are the things that stop you from changing - do they fill your field of vision?
 | 27’23” | What do you currently do regularly, where you could introduce small changes, that could help you practice the art of disruption?
 | 34’48” | Staying in our heads to deal with fear is possible but it can take

What is the Henny Flynn podcast?

A space to settle in and listen, and see where the episode takes you. This inspiring, reflective podcast is an invitation to travel deeper, with compassionate self-enquiry.

Henny shares insights from her own life, alongside practices that help us connect with our inner wisdom, explore our relationship with change and find a greater sense of flow. Henny believes we all hold our own answers, so there are no one-size-fits-all solutions here. This is a space to be with what’s true for you, and to grow from there.

If you’re drawn to slowing down, listening in, and exploring what it means to live with greater authenticity, this podcast is for you. Guided by psychology, mindfulness, therapeutic coaching, flow journaling, and everyday compassion, we explore ideas that help us step further into our inner worlds, in order to shape the changes we seek in our outer worlds.
