Indy900 Documentary

Modern archaeology has become one of the most fascinating and scientifically advanced fields in the world, bridging the latest technologies with deep dives into what history teaches us about everything from politics and culture to climate change. But in America, the most famous archaeologist was a movie character: Indiana Jones. The film is set in the early 1900s during the heyday of the British Empire's political hold over parts of the Middle East (Egypt), South Asia (present-day India), Southeast Asia (Malaysia, Singapore), and other parts of the world where British archaeologists lived. How accurate is the picture of archaeology seen in the story of Indiana Jones? Do they travel around the world looking for tablets and treasure underwater in places like Egypt? In older forms of European archaeology, was there ever a connection between colonial governments and fields like history and archaeology, and how have these fields changed since then? What's the connection of these fields with older medieval and even ancient forms of archaeology? Does every culture have its own archaeologists who look for lessons from the past in ancient coins and inscriptions?
