Mike Dickerson has worked in landscape design-build since 1980. Dave Hunchik holds a degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Toronto and leads site planning, planting design and hardscape layout. Original Landscape Concepts works as the design and project-management team on every job, coordinating in-house crews, specialty trades and design professionals, and partners with a Texas-registered Landscape Architect for sealed drawings when a project needs them. Original Landscape Concepts offers landscape design, pool and water feature design, hardscape construction, garden design and installation, and outdoor living construction, and maintains a dedicated Preston Hollow project portfolio built up over two decades.
Original Landscape Concepts earned this award on design-build accountability, formal design credentials and a verifiable Preston Hollow track record. Original Landscape Concepts carries each project as one design-and-build team from first concept through final construction, rather than handing a homeowner between a separate designer and a separate contractor. Dave Hunchik's Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Toronto puts formal design training behind site planning and planting design, and the firm brings in a Texas-registered Landscape Architect for sealed drawings when professional oversight is required. Original Landscape Concepts publishes a dedicated Preston Hollow service-area page addressing conditions specific to that neighborhood, including heritage-tree protection, black gumbo clay and the neighborhood's mixed architectural styles, backed by a named project portfolio there stretching back two decades. Original Landscape Concepts rebuilt a Preston Hollow property's front and back yards after the October 2019 tornado severely damaged them, a restoration project confirmed directly in a named client review rather than only in the firm's own marketing copy. Original Landscape Concepts holds a 5.0-star rating across 35 Google reviews and a 5.0-star rating across 85 Houzz reviews, feedback recorded independently rather than curated only on the firm's own site.
About the Best Luxury Landscape Design category: An award recognizing the landscape design-build firm that carries a project from concept through construction under one accountable team, matches its designs to the architecture and site conditions of large estate lots, and backs that work with a long, independently verifiable client record.
