The Body Knows

What a car accident really does to your body — jaw, pericardium, diaphragm, kidney, brain — and why symptoms keep developing weeks later.

Show Notes

Almost everybody thinks a car accident is about what happens to your neck — but the effects reach much further than that. In this episode, I walk through what whiplash actually does to your jaw, your heart's pericardium, your diaphragm, your left kidney, and your brain, and why symptoms can keep developing long after the first day or two. Then I share what I'd suggest for the person who's been in an accident, and for the practitioner working on them.

This episode is for education and isn't medical advice — if you've been in an accident, please get evaluated by a physician.

What is The Body Knows?

How does the body actually heal? Leigh Ankrum — founder of the Ankrum Institute and a teacher of whole-body manual therapy — shares short, clear conversations on what your body is telling you: fascia, the nervous system, the body's pressure systems, movement, and the deeper patterns underneath pain. If you have ever sensed there was more to your symptoms than you were told, you are in the right place. The body knows — listen in.
