Unknown caller. Welcome to the Know the Difference Minute for Tuesday, June 6th. Your smartphone is probably loaded with calls and texts you don’t want. Caller ID helps a little, but spammers are skilled at making calls look like they’re coming from your area code. Americans received more than 225 billion spam texts last year, up almost 40%. It’s more than an annoyance. It’s often criminal. Americans lost more than $20 billion to text scams sent last year—up from $10 billion in 2021. The scary angle? Voice impersonation with AI. It’s closer than we think. Apple is rolling out a feature that lets users clone their voice. For the good guys and the crooks. I’m Dave Spano from Annex Wealth Management. That is your Know the Difference Minute.
