पुत्रात् ख्याता इतरा

मण्डूकमुनि-इतरयोः पुत्रः महीदासः सर्वदा द्वादशाक्षरमन्त्रं जपन् लौकिककर्मसु अनासक्तिं वहति स्म । अतः महीदासे इतरायां च मुनेः अनादरः प्रवृद्धः । खिन्ना इतरा पुत्रेण सह अन्यत्र वासम् आरब्धवती । कदाचित् जपेन सन्तुष्टः विष्णुः महीदासस्य स्वप्नम् आगत्य 'गुरूपदेशं विना एव सकलवेदवेदाङ्गज्ञानं तव भविष्यति' इति अवत् । तथैव ज्ञानं सम्पाद्य ऋग्वेदभाष्यं कर्मकाण्डबोधकं ब्राह्मणग्रन्थं च सः अरचयत् । 'मम माता पत्युः उपेक्षाम् अनुभवन्ती, प्रतिकूलस्थितौ अपि मह्यं सत्संस्कारदाने बद्धादरा आसीत् । अतः इतः परं मया रचितः ब्राह्मणग्रन्थः ऐतरेयब्राह्मणत्वेन निर्दिष्टः भवतु' इति अवदत् महीदासः ।

Mahidasa, son of Mandukamuni and Itara, constantly recited the twelve syllable mantra and remained detached from worldly duties. Because of this, his father neglected him, and his mother, distressed, went to live elsewhere with her son. One day, Lord Vishnu, pleased with Mahidasa’s devotion, appeared in his dream and blessed him: “Without a teacher’s instruction, you shall gain complete knowledge of the Vedas and Vedangas.” Indeed, Mahidasa attained such wisdom and composed a commentary on the Rigveda and a Brahmana text explaining ritual practices. He named it as ‘Aitareya Brahmana’ after his mother Itara, honoring her steadfast values despite hardship.

सम्भाषणसन्देशः इति संस्कृतमासिकपत्रिका (https://sambhashanasandesha.in) । एतस्यां पत्रिकायां प्रकाशिताः लेखाः, कथाः, बालकथाः, वार्ताः इत्यादिकं सर्वम् अपि सरलसंस्कृतेन एव प्रकाश्यते । तत्रत्याः “बालमोदिनी”नामिकाः बालकथाः अत्र प्रसार्यन्ते । अतः अस्याः शृङ्खलायाः नाम अपि “बालमोदिनी” एव । लघु गात्रं, सरला भाषा च कथानां विशेषः । प्रत्येकं कथा काञ्चित् नीतिं बोधयति । बालकथाः आबालवृद्धं सर्वेषां प्रियाः । संस्कृतेन ताः श्रोतुम् उपलब्धाः भवन्तु इति एषः प्रयत्नः श्रोतृभ्यः अवश्यं रोचेत इति विश्वासः । संस्कृतक्षेत्रे संस्कृतेन पॉड्कास्ट् क्रियमाणाः एताः प्रप्रथमाः कथाः इति सगौरवम् उद्घोष्यते ।
