Theologia Podcast

Welcome to Public Theology [Theologia Publica]: Epispode 1 - The Crown and the Cross, where we explore the intersection of faith, Scripture, and the pressing questions of public life. Today we're wrestling with one of the most enduring tensions in Christian thought: How does the Bible actually present the relationship between God's sovereignty, earthly rulers, and political authority?

This isn't an abstract question. Every time you vote, pay taxes, critique a policy, or decide whether to comply with a law you find unjust—you're navigating this terrain. And Christians have been navigating it since the first century, often reaching very different conclusions.

Over the next twenty-eight minutes, we're going to dig into three key Scripture passages: Psalm 2, Romans 13, and Revelation 13. What does all this mean for how Christians engage culture and politics today?

Along the way, we'll hear from some of the sharpest theological minds in history—Augustine, John Calvin, Abraham Kuyper, and Francis Schaeffer. Each of them grappled with these texts in their own turbulent times, and their insights remain remarkably fresh.
