Host Keith Porter talks with someone who has done the research and knows the details about plastics. Shirley Freriks leads the Waste Not group with Nevada County Climate Action Now, and discusses the negative impacts of plastics-- especially single-use plastics--all the way from consuming petroleum as the feed stock to the toxic residues produced in land fills and as micro plastics in living organisms. Freriks provides many alternatives to reduce our use of plastics and shares why she is so passionate about promoting the international initiative, Plastic Free July.
