On this Memorial of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Fr. Mark Baron, MIC reminds us of Christ's invitation: "Come to Me... Take My yoke upon you." Jesus is not asking us to carry more weight; He is inviting us to let Him carry our burdens with us. The Christian life begins with surrender; not self-reliance.
When we stop trying to carry life alone and place ourselves under the mantle of Our Lady, we discover what Jesus promised: "My yoke is easy, and My burden is light." The burden becomes lighter not because the cross disappears, but because Christ carries it with us. His grace perfectly strengthens our weakness.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel invites us to walk the path of perfection; not by our own strength, but by surrendering ourselves completely to Jesus. Under her mantle, we learn that true freedom comes when we entrust everything to the mercy of Christ.
