Rabbi Aharon Ariel Lavi at Uri L'Tzedek on Shmita: Then and Now
Seven, the new book by Aharon Ariel Lavi, is one of the first attempts of its kind to interpret the ancient idea of Shmita (the Biblical Sabbatical year) in relation to contemporary economic and social issues: sustainability, community, the job market, the debt crisis, economic cycles, and more. The book brings traditional sources and commentary, alongside cutting-edge scientific knowledge and insights.
In this session, we explore together with Lavi some of the key concepts Shmita holds, and their relevance to our contemporary reality. This is a rare opportunity to contemplate on how millennia old Jewish wisdom can help us cope with the challenges of our time.
