EWOR, the Berlin founder fellowship with a 0.1 percent acceptance rate, has named a three-person leadership team in San Francisco after applications from US founders rose 237 percent in twelve months. The team is Charles Ferguson, who sold FrontPage to Microsoft for $133 million in 1996, won the Academy Award for Inside Job and has written early cheques into Etched, Perplexity, CopilotKit and Paradigm; Katie Madding, former chief product officer at Adjust and chief executive of Emhance; and Gigi Brett, a three-time founder who becomes chief investment officer. EWOR gives about 35 fellows a year up to €500,000 and weekly one-to-one mentorship from founders of Adjust, ProGlove and SumUp, without asking anyone to relocate. Fellows raise $10 million on average after Demo Day; a quarter of recent joiners have raised at nine-figure valuations in the past six months. The first San Francisco Demo Day is on 9 October, with ten founders pitching to several hundred investors. The point of the story is the direction of travel: founders who already live in the world's densest startup market are applying to a European programme in growing numbers, so the programme has come to them.
