Louisiana Farm Bureau Podcast

We’ve hit the big 2-0! It’s Episode 20 of The Voice of Louisiana Agriculture Podcast. We get it started with news headlines, where we will hear about the fight to keep the boll weevil out of Louisiana. Two boll weevils have been trapped in Mississippi, and Louisiana Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Mike Strain tells us what is being done to keep our state free of that pest. We will also hear from Louisiana Farm Service Agency Director Craig McCain about two programs that are benefitting Louisiana farmers and ranchers this fall. In our Grassroots Government segment we will visit with Louisiana 6th District Congressman Garrett Graves. Congressman Graves has a lot of sugarcane and soybean acreage in his district, and he will update us on several agricultural issues that are being discussed in Washington D.C. We’ll go “In the Field” to talk to Evangeline Parish farmer Richard Fontenot about his disastrous soybean crop, and how he is coping with this crisis. Greg Fox and Dave Foster stop by to talk about the grain and cattle markets, then we wrap it all up with a look at the Louisiana Ag Calendar.
