अपूर्वम् उपायानम्

इमर्सनः कश्चन क्रैस्तधर्मगुरुः । भगवद्गीतया आकृष्टः‌ सः स्वस्य धर्मगुरुत्वं परित्यज्य भगवद्गीतायाः प्रचारे मग्नः अभवत् । कदाचित् सः इङ्ग्लेण्ड्-देशं गतः तत्रत्यं कञ्चन महादार्शनिकं कार्यायिलं द्रष्टुम् । सम्भाषणावसरे कार्यायिलः अपृच्छत् 'मह्यं कीदृशम् उपायनम् आनीतम्?’ इति । 'मम देशे महती सम्पत्तिः चेदपि सांस्कृतिकदृष्ट्या तु वयम् अकिञ्चनाः । मया अपूर्वम् उपायनं दीयते किन्तु तत् न मद्देशीयम् , अपि तु भारतीयम्' इत्युक्त्वा इमर्सनः भगवद्गीतां कार्यायिलाय अयच्छत् । एतत् उपायनं प्रीत्या स्वीकृत्य कार्यायिलः अपि तस्मै उपायनत्वे भगवद्गीताम् एव आनीतवान् आसीत् । एकः अमेरिकीयः अपरः इङ्ग्लेण्ड्-देशीयः च । किन्तु उभौ अपि उपायनीकुरुतः भारतीयां भगवद्गीताम् ।

Emerson, once a Christian preacher, was deeply drawn to the Bhagavad Gita. He gave up his priesthood and devoted himself to spreading its message. On a visit to England, he met the great philosopher Carlyle. During their conversation, Carlyle asked what gift Emerson had brought him. Emerson replied: ‘Though my country is wealthy, culturally we are poor. I bring you a unique gift, not from my land but from India.’ He then presented Carlyle with the Bhagavad Gita. Carlyle accepted it with joy and, in return, gifted Emerson the same — the Bhagavad Gita. Thus, one was American, the other English, yet both chose an Indian scripture as their highest offering.

सम्भाषणसन्देशः इति संस्कृतमासिकपत्रिका (https://sambhashanasandesha.in) । एतस्यां पत्रिकायां प्रकाशिताः लेखाः, कथाः, बालकथाः, वार्ताः इत्यादिकं सर्वम् अपि सरलसंस्कृतेन एव प्रकाश्यते । तत्रत्याः “बालमोदिनी”नामिकाः बालकथाः अत्र प्रसार्यन्ते । अतः अस्याः शृङ्खलायाः नाम अपि “बालमोदिनी” एव । लघु गात्रं, सरला भाषा च कथानां विशेषः । प्रत्येकं कथा काञ्चित् नीतिं बोधयति । बालकथाः आबालवृद्धं सर्वेषां प्रियाः । संस्कृतेन ताः श्रोतुम् उपलब्धाः भवन्तु इति एषः प्रयत्नः श्रोतृभ्यः अवश्यं रोचेत इति विश्वासः । संस्कृतक्षेत्रे संस्कृतेन पॉड्कास्ट् क्रियमाणाः एताः प्रप्रथमाः कथाः इति सगौरवम् उद्घोष्यते ।
