In this chapter and others in the Old Testament sometimes there are things that come across harsh to us today. God’s swift penalty in the Old Testament may have helped people have a proper fear of God to not disobey. Yet, today, as we see in the story of the prodigal son (Luke 15) God is operating under a new agreement with greater grace.
