Tonight for our first guest artist selector show of the new year, we couldn't be more thrilled to have welcomed Joan As Police Woman to the show to discuss the creative process that went into her latest album with Tony Allen and Dave Okumu. A surprising one night jam session in Paris in 2019 bloomed into the glimmering, brooding flower that is The Solution Is Restless, one of our favorite albums of the year. Joan talked quite specifically about what moved her to create some of the tunes on the LP, and also how she met the late, great father of afrobeat and kind of "took a chance" asking if he'd like to record with her.
