The first landing of a commercial Boeing 757 on a blue-ice runway in Antarctica occurred on November 26, 2015, at Union Glacier. The landing was a joint partnership between Antarctic Logistics & Expeditions (ALE), Loftleidir Icelandic, and NAS Corporation Limited (NAS).

Andrew Smith & NAS Corporation helped with organising the first commercial airline flight to Antarctica.  Andrew Smith first started flying to Antarctica with Avient in 1997. Avient flew to the region for many years operating their own IL76.

What is Andrew Smith : Aviation Avient?

Andrew Smith is an Aviation Consultant. He has a broad range of experience including air cargo transport to extreme destinations, aircraft leasing, aircraft charter, and logistical solutions.

Andrew was the founder of Avient, an all cargo airline. The airline operated DC-10s, MD11s & IL76 aircraft.

Andrew is currently the Managing Director of NAS Corporation.
