Reimagine Schools

In this episode, educational writer and thought leader John Tanner shares insights on how his Benefits-Based Accountability Framework can help school districts make the shift from a Portrait of a Graduate to a true accountability system for long-term school success. As the founder of Brave Ed, Tanner also provides a historical summary of high-stakes testing in schools and why policymakers continue to utilize a narrow approach to data collection that creates a "punishment-based" system for school districts. Finally, Tanner offers advice to school leaders on how to change the narrative around accountability by engaging stakeholders in new conversations about what benefits should provided to students throughout the K-12 school experience.
