Acts Daily Devotional Podcast

The Jewish leaders in Corinth had watched Paul long enough. They'd seen Crispus cross over, neighbors getting baptized, the synagogue losing ground. So they organized. Luke uses the same word for their united attack that he uses for the early church praying together. Same energy, opposite direction. They dragged Paul to the bema, the marble judgment seat in the heart of Corinth, and demanded a ruling from Gallio, the Roman proconsul. Paul opened his mouth to defend himself. Gallio cut him off before a word came out. He saw through the case in seconds and threw it out. One dismissal from the brother of Seneca created roughly a decade of legal protection for the gospel across the empire. Sometimes God's protection comes through people who couldn't care less about your theology.
