Summary:
Faith is like confidence. We know God's will because we can read it in his Word.
Scriptures:
1 john
5:14-15 NIV
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
Hebrews
10:35-36
So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
Hebrews 11:1 NIV
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
KJV - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
WE - Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen.
YLT - And faith is of things hoped for a confidence, of matters not seen a conviction
Romans
10:17So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Hebrews 11:1 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].
We have confidence because we have looked to the Word to know God’s will.
If we ever have any doubt or start to loose our confidence, we go back to the Word.
In Ephesians 6 the Scripture says, “Be strong in the Lord”.
Part of being strong in the Lord is being confident of his Will because you know what his Word says.
Have you ever heard the saying, “If you know you are right, never back down.”?
If we are confident of God’s will because we see it in the Word, then never back down. Keep believing. Keep growing.
