Christopher B. Briggs is Publications and Public Affairs Counsel at the Independent Institute. He received his B.A. in history and English summa cum laude from Bowdoin College and holds an M.A. in political theory from The Catholic University of America (where he also completed the coursework for the Ph.D. in the same field).

He has been a H. B. Earhart Fellow, Richard M. Weaver Fellow, and Marguerite Eyer Wilbur Foundation Fellow (as literary assistant to Russell Kirk). He has served as managing director (and owner) of Spence Media; vice president for institutional advancement at Ave Maria University; executive director of Aid to the Church in Russia; senior editor of ISI Books at the Intercollegiate Studies Institute; assistant editor, Liberty Fund, Inc.; books editor for The American Spectator; editor of Gateway Classics and the Conservative Leadership Series at Regnery Publishing, Inc.; and staff director for former Jersey City, N.J., Mayor Bret Schundler.
