कस्यचन पण्डितस्य कन्या सर्वगुणसम्पन्ना उच्चाकाङ्क्षिणी च प्रतिज्ञाबद्धा आसीत् यत् सर्वे यं प्रशंसन्ति, यश्च शक्तिशाली भवति तमेव अहं वृणोमि इति । एकदा सा महाराजं दृष्ट्वा तमेव वृणोमि इति अचिन्तयत् । किन्तु सः यदा गुरोः पादस्पर्शं करोति, तदा गुरुः एव श्रेष्ठः इति चिन्तयति । पुनः गुरुः देवं प्रणमति इति करणेन देवः श्रेष्ठः इति चिन्तयति । अन्ततो गत्वा पण्डितपुत्रः एकः दृष्टेभ्यः सर्वेभ्यः श्रेष्ठः इति मत्वा तेन सह उच्चाकाङ्क्षिण्याः कन्यायाः परिणयः जातः ।

A scholar's daughter, endowed with all virtues and ambitious, had vowed that she would choose only the one who is admired by all and who is powerful. One day, upon seeing a great king, she thought of choosing him. However, when she noticed the king bowing at the feet of his Guru, she concluded that the teacher is greater. Later, seeing the Guru praying to God, she realized that God is the greatest. Finally, after much thought, she determined that the scholar's son was superior to all she had seen and decided to marry him.
