कश्चन तरुणः गुरोः सकाशात् धनुर्विद्याम् अधीत्य महत् कौशलं प्राप्तवान् । सः धनुर्विद्यायां गुरुमपि अतिशेते इत्यतः अहङ्कारयुक्तः अभवत् । गुरुः एतत् ज्ञात्वा न किमपि उक्तवान् । एकदा शिष्यः कठिनं सेतुम् अतिक्रान्तुं प्रयत्नरतः सन् कम्पितः, शाखायाम् अधःपतनभयेन आकुलः अभवत् । अन्ते सः अवगतवान् यत् अध्येतव्यं बहु अस्तीति ।
