Marriage Talk

Welcome back to our RE-series! Last week, we dove into the power of Reconnect, and today, we’re shifting gears to talk about Realign—because, let’s be honest, sometimes life completely messes up our plans, and we need a reset!

So, picture this: you’re on a cruise, living your best life, and they hand you a domino set as a gift (fancy, right?). But then comes the challenge—they ask you to reflect on what happens when someone blocks your move in a game of dominos. UGH. The strategy you carefully planned? Wrecked. You’re forced to realign, find a new position, and keep playing. Frustrating? Absolutely. Necessary? 100%.

Now, here’s where it gets real—this isn’t just a dominos thing. This is a marriage thing. Life happens. Unexpected challenges come up. We’re all human, which means sin, selfishness, and just plain old stress can knock us out of alignment with our spouse. But instead of staying stuck, what if we chose to realign? What if we found a way to reposition ourselves together and get back in the game?

In today’s episode, Sheldon and Valerie are diving into practical ways to realign in marriage—whether it’s communication, priorities, or just remembering why you started this journey together in the first place. Because trust us, the game isn’t over just because the strategy had to change.

Let’s talk about it! 🎧

What is Marriage Talk?

Welcome to Marriage Talk… where we chat about marriage, family and everything in between. We're Sheldon and Valerie Dean and we work with FamilyLife Canada, seeking to bring help and hope to marriages. Our desire is to work through life together here on the podcast. We’re going to talk about different topics in a conversation based style that will hopefully launch you into some thinking and a safe intentional conversation with your partner. We’ll share from our life experience, as well as interview other couples about their life situations and how they’ve handled things. Both the good and the not so good. Our hope is that through these intentional conversations we will all learn to critically think through topics, chat about how these topics are impacting our marriages, and discuss in practical terms what it looks like as we live out our lives. So come join us as we process life, marriage and family in a way that is fun, engaging and filled with help and hope.
