Welcome to SHE is Confident. Hi! This is Deon Teh and in this episode, I will be sharing with you about consciousness expansions.
Do you agree that we tend to hang out with people with the same mindset?
It is common knowledge that we as humans have a natural tendency to group with people who share the same belief as us, this is not related to money, but it is related to how our thinking affect who we want to be.
This reminds me of a Chinese story called ‘Meng Mu San Qian’ that talks about Mencius’ mother on why she shifted house 3 times to let his son have a better learning environment.
As their first home is close to the cemetery, little Mencius learned and copied the behavior of the tomb visitors, where they often cry in front of their ancestors’ tombs.
Then they shifted to the second home, this time it is near to the market, where the sellers in the markets were always yelling loudly to sell their goods. His mother felt that this is bad influence forMenius and she decided to move again.
Luckily for them, they managed to shift houses beside a school. Little Mencius was able to learn good manners from school and in the end, he became the great Chinese philosopher when he grew up.
We form our conscious mind from young and normally we will not think about it.
And we usually will think logically and with our past experiences, we can train our consciousness and expand it in order for us to change something,
Just like Mencius’ mother, I feel she had a very powerful conscious mind, she knew the consequences how of each behavior that her son learned from the environment, may affect his growing.
She was able to breakthrough her past logic experiences and be more aware to create something different in her child’s education
Due to the global pandemic co-vid 19 situation, our Singapore government imposed a partial lockdown for everyone. This means that if you are not working in essential services like healthcare and food services, you need to stay at home.
All of a sudden, everyone has to work from home or study from home. In the beginning, I thought that it would be a waste of my time as I will be stuck at home, unable to do anything.
I was also concerned for my podcast recording as I was only halfway through recording the episodes.
Fortunately, Genecia and Joanne were able to offer their podcast recording online for me and I was able to continue recording my episodes at home and with Joanne coaching me, the same as how it was in the Podcast Recording Studio at Soul Rich Woman office.
Next, I was concerned about how I can connect with my staff in JB while I’m stuck in Singapore. Before the lockdown, I travel 3 times weekly to our JB office to meet my staff.
I was not ready for video conferencing as I’m camera shy. However, after using it a few times, I felt that it was not as bad as I think it would be. Although I don't really like it, this is the best alternative for me to communicate with my JB staff for now.
Lastly, I finally managed to overcome my dislike for online classes. In the past, I would never attend online learning classes, as it feels unreal. I prefer to be physically in a classroom and looking at the teacher face to face.
As I did not want to waste my time at home during the partial lockdown, I decided to join online courses to make good use of my time. After attending the online courses, I changed my mind to learning online.
I did not allow my past experiences and thinking to prevent me from improving or learning. Instead I choose to do something that allows me to be different from the past.
I feel satisfied as I was persistent to overcome the problem and situation during the partial lockdown period, I was able to step out of my comfort zone.
When something happens, it doesn't mean that your door of opportunity is closed. Another door will be open for you.
Take my podcast recording for example, the co-vid situation causes me not to be able to go to the studio to record, however with online software , I was able to record at home.
I remove my old way of thinking that must be physical to study something,
In the past , I didn't feel good about online classes, however, through this lockdown period, I have been forced to reconsider and I feel it can save travel times too and the result seems better.
I felt great that I chose to continue doing the things I liked no matter what I encountered before, it didn’t affect me for this moment, and the decisions to what I want to do.
Whatever you do now will affect your future, as we know that we always have choices to respond to what to do for now. You cannot blame others for your choice.
Set out your goal and target because you might follow back your past behaviour and go back the same path and your future will not be any different.
Once you expand your consciousness, your thoughts and intentions will attract similar things, people and you will gain more wisdom.
How your future will be, depends on what you choose now, right this minute.
Your future for these minutes is according to what you choose, however, in the next minute if you have another choice, your future will be different from the one you chose a minute ago.
