अमरत्वम्

अमरत्वं प्राप्तव्यम् इति कस्यचन राज्ञः महती इच्छा जाता । कस्यचन कूपस्य जलं पीतं चेत् अमरत्वं निश्चयेन प्राप्स्यते इति राज्ञा कथञ्चित् ज्ञातम् । अमरत्वदायकस्य कूपस्य अन्वेषणं यदा जातं तदा राजा कूपात् जलम् उद्धृत्य तत् पातुम् उद्यतः । तावता कूपसमीपे स्थितः कश्चन काकः अवदत् 'एतत् जलं मा पिब । अहम् अमरत्वं प्राप्य पश्चात्तापम् अनुभवामि । मम गृहजनाः, बान्धवाः दिवं गताः । अहम् एकाकी अस्मि । अमरत्वप्राप्त्या मया किमपि न साधितम् । मृत्युः मम समीपं न उपसर्पति । मम दुःखस्य अन्त्यमेव नास्ति' इति । एतत् श्रुतवता राज्ञा विवेकः प्राप्तः । सः तत्रैव जलं पातयित्वा काकं नमस्कृत्य ततः प्रतिगतवान् ।

अमरत्वम्
A king once longed for immortality. He learned of a well whose water could grant eternal life. When he drew the water and was about to drink, a crow nearby warned him: ‘Do not drink. I myself gained immortality and now regret it. My family and friends have all passed away, leaving me alone. Death never approaches me, and my suffering has no end’. Hearing this, the king gained wisdom, poured the water back, bowed to the crow, and returned.

What is बालमोदिनी?

सम्भाषणसन्देशः इति संस्कृतमासिकपत्रिका (https://sambhashanasandesha.in) । एतस्यां पत्रिकायां प्रकाशिताः लेखाः, कथाः, बालकथाः, वार्ताः इत्यादिकं सर्वम् अपि सरलसंस्कृतेन एव प्रकाश्यते । तत्रत्याः “बालमोदिनी”नामिकाः बालकथाः अत्र प्रसार्यन्ते । अतः अस्याः शृङ्खलायाः नाम अपि “बालमोदिनी” एव । लघु गात्रं, सरला भाषा च कथानां विशेषः । प्रत्येकं कथा काञ्चित् नीतिं बोधयति । बालकथाः आबालवृद्धं सर्वेषां प्रियाः । संस्कृतेन ताः श्रोतुम् उपलब्धाः भवन्तु इति एषः प्रयत्नः श्रोतृभ्यः अवश्यं रोचेत इति विश्वासः । संस्कृतक्षेत्रे संस्कृतेन पॉड्कास्ट् क्रियमाणाः एताः प्रप्रथमाः कथाः इति सगौरवम् उद्घोष्यते ।
